AP"C" you soon
Tough times never last, only tough people do
This exam sucks. I’ve always hated writing exams and I probably always will. It’s crazy then that I chose to do an academically intensive qualification.
APC is the pits, but here’s a resource I made in 2023 as I was preparing. These notes are a consolidation of the patterns I picked up on regarding how to answer ethics questions.
You have to use your judgement when applying it though because if you just dump everything you see that might not be applicable to the question, its an indicator of Low Competence.
I HIGHLY suggest looking at the specimen answers from APC 2018 on SAICA’s website. Even if just to see the difference between an LC, C and HC answer. This template is a conglomeration of all the tips from the past papers I did, notes from friends and lessons from when I failed the entrance exam.
My approach may have been unorthodox but it worked for me. I scoured through every past paper available on SAICA’s website and created an index of which topics/questions came up in each paper.
I didn’t do the whole exams, I just read through the memos. So that when the PRI came out, I could easily navigate which past paper to look at to guide my research and thinking.
There’s really only so many ways to test revenue and leases and if the specimen answers can give you a guide on the basic points you need to hit to get a C, sign me up!
This isn’t a foolproof method though, you have to APPLY yourself and USE JUDGEMENT to determine which aspects of the template you want to cherry pick from.
